A SPECIAL ONE-WEEK VISUAL ARTS INTENSIVE WITH AGELIO BATLE

Cultivating Creativity


In his almost 30 years as an SFArtsED Artist Mentor Agelio Batle has created award-winning student projects and exhibitions. He conceived and guided the Interdisciplinary Arts program for high school visual artists, and this year he is the National Endowment for the Arts-supported Artist-in-Residence at SFArtsED’s Minnesota Street Project gallery. For one week only at SFArtsED's Minnesota Street Project gallery, Agelio will draw on current research about creativity combined with his 30+ years as an artist/designer/maker/inventor to help students cultivate their creativity. The week will include:

Drawing – each day will start with drawing to awaken the eye and the mind

Six themed projects – 2- & 3-dimensional, based on the ideas of 12 groundbreaking, highly creative contemporary and classical artists/designers/makers introduced through video, lively discussion, and exercises. Among those studied will be Ai Wei Wei, Paula Scher, Tom Sachs, Jacob Collier, Alexandra Kehayoglou, and Leonardo DaVinci.
